Stay in the loop
What it does
- Run card sorts online. Open, closed and hybrid sorts. Participants place cards with a click, say how confident they are, and can mark cards they don’t understand, so confusing labels show up. Send the study link to your own participants.
- Reads the files you already have. Studies are uploaded in SynCaps format: the format SynCaps V3 uses, and which several card sorting tools export.
- The charts researchers know from SynCaps. Items × Groups, the item and participant dendrograms, and the rest, in your browser.
- Tidy group names from the chart. Merge names that mean the same thing, or set aside ones that don’t matter, by clicking on the chart itself. The merges are kept with the study.
- Participant analysis. A significance test of whether your sample holds clusters of participants who sorted the same items in materially different ways, and if it does, which participants are in each, so they can be analysed separately.
Your participants’ data
SynCaps V4 is designed to protect your participants’ privacy. Each study is uploaded either with your declaration that it holds no personal identifiers, or with participant IDs replaced by codes in your browser before the file is sent, so the key linking codes to people stays with you. All study data is held in London.
For courses and students
Learning card sorting? Choose Practice when you set up a study. It runs as a pilot: send its link to up to 10 people, then see your similarity matrix, dendrogram and the group names your participants used. Free, with no organisation or paperwork.
Early access
SynCaps V4 is in early access, and everything in it is free. Setting up a study and basic reports will always be free. So will practice studies for courses and learning, with every chart. Prices for paid studies, with their advanced reports and longer storage, are on our pricing page; they apply once early access ends, which we will announce by email at least 30 days ahead. Please report any problems to [email protected].
